As a devoted mother of three lovely daughters and a first-generation immigrant, my journey as a furniture designer and maker has been nothing short of remarkable.
For many years, I've been a mechanical engineering designer in the motor body and equipment industry, but my heart yearned for more. I wanted to use my skills, experience, and creativity to make a difference in the lives of women at home. That's how Jayru Home Bespoke came to life.
From Dreams to Design: Ruth's Passion for Bespoke Furniture
It all began with a simple need: a reliable and stylish shoe storage solution. Like many women, I watched my shoe collection grow and create chaos in my home. There was no shoe rack that could keep up with it and still match my decor. I knew I couldn't be alone in this struggle. So, I designed an expandable metal shoe rack, durable and easy to assemble. It became a solution not just for me but for many others too.
But that's not all. My passion extends to my African heritage, which is deeply ingrained in my art. I create stunning African-themed artwork that celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of my roots. These pieces are not just decorative; they tell stories, carry history, and reflect the beauty of Africa.
Crafting Memories: A Wardrobe for Mom
In the early chapters of my design journey, as a young lady, I faced another challenge at home. My mother, a dedicated teacher, was struggling with clothes storage. I took it upon myself to create a solution. I designed a two-piece wardrobe that not only organized her clothes but also included removable storage for blankets. It was a labor of love, a practical solution born out of necessity.
To this day, my sister continues to use that wardrobe, a testament to the enduring quality and functionality of thoughtful design.

In addition to my love for African art and storytelling, I specialize in crafting custom steel furniture that adds a touch of modern sophistication to any space. From console tables to center tables and planter stands, each piece is meticulously designed and made to order. The fusion of steel and creativity allows me to bring unique and functional furniture into your home.
